Biography
Zayd C. Leseman received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) in 1997 and 2000, respectively. After obtaining his M.S., he started his own company in which he designed, fabricated and patented a novel inkjet printhead. Upon conclusion of his entrepreneurial adventure, he returned to UIUC and completed his Ph.D. in May 2006.
Currently, he is an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at The University of New Mexico.
Research Interests
- Fabricating bioMEMS devices to perform studies in single-cell mechanics and nano/microfluidics
- Fabrication and charactrization of Phononic Crystals
- Ultra high vacuum studies of MEMS vibrations
- Improved etching of Si using XeF2
